Welcome to the Bay of Plenty
The Banyak Islands is the last uncrowded surfing frontier in Indonesia and Banyak Surf Camp is here to offer you the experience of a lifetime! As the second only land-based camp in the Bay of Plenty, Banyak Surf Camp is perfectly located with Gunters and Camel Backs only a short paddle from the front of the camp.
Situated 34 miles off the west coast of Nth Sumatra north of Nias Island and south of Simeulue.
Banyak Surf Camp has 2 waves only 1 minute paddle from the front of the camp, with Gunters being the most consistent wave in the Banyaks.
There are also 2 other left hand waves situated in the Bay of plenty only a short distance from the camp.
Banyak Surf Camp offers an eco style sustainable resort with a difference – there are no villages, no roads, no traffic, no rush. Simply waves, the forest and Mother Nature at its unblemished best.
The Banyak Island chain is truly unique to the Indo legacy, with more than 95% of its islands classified as uninhabitable and designated as national parks.
There are only 4 surf boat charters that operate in the area, so the crowd factor is very minimal. Often the camp guests will be the only ones out surfing.
Banyak Surf Camp offers a Robinson Crusoe style surf trip with twin share bungalows with on sweets. An Eco and creature comfort twist that sees only 10 surfers maximum. There are waves all year round, for all types of surfers. Once you get settled, you'll be able to almost paddle out from the front of your own Bungalow.
The Low Season is from Dec – Feb when cyclones can push generous amounts of swell across the Indian Ocean near India.
The Shoulder season is Mar – May / Sept – Nov when swell often arrives consistently.
The High season is Jun – Aug when swells are the most consistent.
So book your trip of a lifetime now as you won't regret it!
